Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is primarily an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask questions about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. You'll also have the chance to ask questions about the therapeutic process and approach. This initial session helps establish a foundation for your work together and determine if it's a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
Our therapy sessions range from $130-$200 per session depending on the type of therapy and the therapist's level of specialization. We're committed to making therapy accessible and offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those experiencing financial hardship. We also accept many major insurance plans. Please contact our office for specific information about your insurance coverage.
How long does therapy typically last?
The length of therapy varies widely depending on your goals, the complexity of your concerns, and your individual progress. Some clients attend therapy for a few months to address specific issues, while others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper personal growth or managing chronic conditions. We regularly review progress with clients and collaborate on determining the appropriate duration for your specific needs.
Do you offer telehealth/online therapy?
Yes, we offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth services to residents of Virginia. Online therapy provides the same quality care as in-person sessions with added convenience and accessibility. This option is ideal for clients with busy schedules, transportation limitations, or those who simply prefer meeting from the comfort of their own space.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapy. Information shared in therapy sessions is protected by law and our professional ethical standards. There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, which include: risk of harm to yourself or others, suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or if required by court order. Your therapist will discuss these limitations in detail during your first session.
